It was a lovely sunny day for the 2015 SCPA Mixed Doubles held at Burridge on Sunday, 20th September. There were 17 teams, two fewer than last year largely due to the football match between Southampton and Manchester United taking place on the same day; Unfortunately this meant a bye in one of the morning leagues and in the afternoon plate competition.
Reigning champions Karen Lombard and Ian Burchell safely negotiated the leagues winning all 3 games, along with the 2013 winners Mike Tull and Sam Thatcher; Also winning all 3 games were Kath Knight and Graham Galton and Jackie Lee and Bernie Miles.
Kath and Graham knocked out Karen and Ian in one semi-final, while Sam and Mike beat Dave and Ali in the other. Sam and Mike went on to beat Kath and Graham 13-3 in the final to take the title for the 2nd time in 3 years.
Last year’s Plate winner Bernie, playing with Jackie, was again in the prizes beating Angela and Alex in the consolage final. With 9 teams in the plate a 3 round snake was played. Diana and Bob won all 3 games (+18) to pip Sue and Steve (+11) on points difference.
